I was asked by 17 year old female singer to produce some promotional images for her up and coming musical release. The location was an old abattoir near Kilmarnock, chosen initially for its privacy and solitude.
Laurie Withers wanted something natural and thus began singing and playing her guitar as I worked around her. Whilst inside the now derelict buildings, her voice resounded around the bare brick interior, bringing her voice to life.
Laurie even took requests and did a wonderful version of “Jar of Hearts” one of my favourite songs.
However, the image above was taken outdoors and processed using “Selective Colouring” techniques, which many people like and others don’t. I am of the opinion that beauty is in the eye of the photographer, and in this instance – I love the outcome.
